New York City

1. Dynamic duos of restaurants: Le Coucou and La Mercerie 

2. Vegetable soup from Via Quadrono (try to eat outside if the weather is nice) 

3. Thai coconut chicken soup from Jean Georges at the Mark Hotel... and the people-watching is great 

4. Best modernized take on Chinese food is at Red Farm 

5. Best Challah is from Elis and the best sourdough baguette is from Breads Bakery 

6. Best restaurant from Major Food Group is Torrisi’s 

7. Best place to have a pre-dinner drink is at the Crosby Hotel or the Library Bar in the Public Hotel. Veronika has a great bar too. 

Montreal

1. Best brunch is at Beauty’s. Arthur’s is right behind it for best brunch.

2. Best smoked meat is at Snowden Deli ( sorry Schwartz’s)

3. Best bar is Bar George, best lounge is Atwater Social Club and best lounge / bar mash-up is Fly Gin

5. Best Greek food is at the OG Milo’s while Faros on Fairmont Ave is a close second and more reasonably priced.

6. Best bagels St Viateur and Fairmont both make spectacular bagels. But you must go at night while they’re baking them and then try one. Heavenly 

7. Best cheap Chinese food is Kam Shing. I’m partial to the one on Van Horn.

8. Best cut fruit is at the National. Sounds weird but you’ll never have better cut fruit in your life.

When Traveling

1. Favorite Asian restaurant in Paris is Diep.

2. Favorite hotel bar is the Connaught Bar in London. Although all the bars ( Coburg, red bar and the champagne bar are all fabulous) 

3. Favorite department store in France: Le Bon Marche in Paris 

4. Favorite restaurant in Venice: Da Ivo

5. Favorite  Special places to stay in Italy

  • Rosa alpina in the Dolomites 

  • Il pellicano in southern Tuscany 

  • Castillo reschio on the Tuscan / Umbrian border 

6. Favorite place to have lunch on the beach: Sublime Beach Club and Sal in Comporta 

7. Favorite hotel in a European city: The mandarin oriental ( Ritz) in Madrid 

8. Favorite tomato salad: the hydroponic tomato farm in the Golden Ring in Iceland 

9. Favorite thing to do when in Amsterdam: the tulips at the kukenhof 45 minutes outside of Amsterdam. But it’s only available to see in the springtime. 

10. Favorite hotel in Miami: Faena ask for the 16 line room. It’s simply perfect. And I love eating dinner at Los Fuegos, Francis Mellmans an ode to Argentinan/ Buenos Aires roots. Situated in the most beautiful dining room in all of Miami.

11. Favorite jaw-dropping experience: Via Ferretti at the Amangiri in Utah. 

12. Favorite hike: Dolomites hike to Refugio Bioch for some sumptuous fabulous ravioli and views for days. 

13. Favorite hike number two: a hike in Fogo Island to the top of their peak where they claim one of the four corners is located. 

14. Favorite bakery in New Orleans: Ayu bakery. Everything is just beyond ridiculously delicious. 

15. Cool spots to have a drink in New Orleans:

  • The chapel bar in the St Vincent Hotel. 

  • The back bar at Elysian bar 

  • Bar Marilou in the former maison de la Luz 

  • The cure on ferret street 

16. Favorite place to listen to 80’s covers interpreted by a lounge act 

  • There is a place owned by Damian Alburn in Reykjavik where you can eat, you can drink and you can listen to really cool music. The name escapes me.
