Why Soup
Ever since I can remember I’ve always loved soup. I eat soup almost every day and am never tired of it. I eat hot soup when it’s 90 degrees outside and of course, I eat soup when it’s minus 20 outside. When I was a little girl, I used to sit in my kitchen watching my mum making soup, and I would sit in my grandmother's kitchen watching the pea soup with dill being made, the tomato vegetable cabbage soup being made, and the chicken soup being made. And I’d do so with such anticipation and glee knowing I was going to shortly have a bowl of deliciousness. To me, it’s the ultimate comfort food. It’s also the ultimate nourishment when made properly and with love. It can be a wonderful way to start a meal, or it can be a stand-alone meal in itself. A bowl of soup with a salad and a piece of crusty bread and I’m set for the day. Soup, like a table, gathers ingredients in one setting, brings them together, manages to bring out the best flavors, and creates a harmonious experience that leaves you feeling satiated. Interesting that both tables and soups have a common theme.
